Common petroleum bitumen (90#)
Petroleum asphalt is a product of the process of crude oil processing. At normal temperature, it is black or black brown viscous liquid, semisolid or solid, mainly containing chloroform hydrocarbons and non hydrocarbon derivatives, their properties and composition vary with the source of crude oil and the method of production. The main components of petroleum asphalt are oil, resin and asphaltene. It also contains 2%~3% bituminous carbon and carbon like compounds, and contains wax, oil in pitch and resin to infiltrate asphaltene. The asphaltene structure is based on asphaltene and adsorbed some resin and oil to form micelles.
